Sapna & TJ: Mehndi

Earlier this year when we predicted the top trends for 2017, we expected this year’s Pantone color of the year, Greenery, to make a big splash. Just two weeks into the new year and we’ve already “painted an event green” at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in south Florida. Sapna and TJ kicked off their wedding weekend with a Mehndi night. In decorating the ballroom, we drew inspiration from the color of mehndi itself, which is typically an army or olive green.

The stage was made with lace green backdrop overlayed with white and green curtains, along with a bench with green and gold throw pillows. But the real showstopper were the glitter sequin cabanas placed in the back of the room for guests to lounge in. Draped in green chiffon fabric and adorned with neon beading, we “elevated” the roof of the cabanas with string lights, upside down umbrellas and lanterns. We placed similar green umbrellas as centerpieces across the guest tables. Lastly, we added one more seating option for guests by placing cushions and throw pillows around the dance floor, making it convenient for guests to get their henna done wherever they choose.
